Thinking is a powerful faculty of human mind. Education is a powerful tool to progress. We are living in an era in which education has become a stressful area of life for both children and parents. The need to excel and emerge victorious is every parent’s goal as much as it is for the child. The competition spirit is far exceeding the limits of endurance and reasonableness as more and more children feel stressed out and like a failure if they don’t get “high” grades while the benchmark for “high” grades only keeps increasing.

Even the best CBSE school or a top international school is primarily measured with the yardstick of its academic performance, or in other words, through ranks and such systems. There is no wrong in it, in fact this the mark of how good the educational institution is as a choice. But the method in which education in imparted and the systems being implemented differs within each group of the so-called acclaimed institutions. What sets apart the healthy mode of learning is the factors stressed upon during education.

Preschool education is often ignored or treated merely as a play school learning. But it is the basic and building block of the student’s interaction with learning, and is therefore of immense importance. If you look at the best matriculation school in Chennai or a top higher secondary school in Mumbai or any other competent school within the city, the learning curriculum may be similar or same. Developing a humane attitude and instilling in the child’s mind about education as a need and an interesting means to personal development is the point of true success for a school.

While most schools do not succeed, even if they do at the obvious & surface levels, there are sadly only a few which actually make an impact in encouraging children towards stress-free education and making education interesting for them. Only the best of faculty can really “train the minds to think”. All of us have both good and bad things to say about the educational system. But we do not take steps to make the good things better and converting the bad things into good. The lion’s share of economic progress may be attributed to education. The awareness created by education makes for analysis and utilization of better opportunities. Good investments too are the results of wise learning. It is therefore the oil for the wheel of progress.

To curb the trend of increasing numbers of students’ suicides and to make education interesting to children, they need to be first taught to appreciate knowledge and learning as an activity. Children should be treated with respect as growing individuals and not as high-score brewing machines. Their unique talents or inclinations to a healthy and creative aspect of one’s personality has to be appreciated and allowed to be developed. Only a well-experienced teacher can bring out the best resources of a student and help him or her identify strengths and lacking nodes. Atleast 90% of us would agree to the fact that we never found education interesting during our schooldays, irrespective of whether 10 years or 50 years back. It was always either a role-model teacher or a teacher friend who made us realize the value of education and helped us understand the seemingly insurmountable subjects. To some of us it could have been mathematics, to a few others it could have been science and so on.

Teaching is one of the noblest professions in the world. Making it nobler is the power of teaching fraternity. Systems, practices and attitude of imparting education can make a significant change and influence students’ lives. This change can emerge to be a sea change in shaping the tomorrow of the child and the society in which he or she lives in and will continue to be a part of. Thus it becomes a social responsibility rather a collective one to make education interesting to children so that they do not stop with asking questions but also arrive at the answers themselves, with proper guidance in the right direction.

Everyone at some point has experienced an impasse in communication; those frustrating occasions when it all breaks down and people want to get up and walk out. Just look at a sample of recent headlines: “Peace Talks Breakdown” or “Labor Negotiations at a Stalemate” or “Negotiations Fail to Result in an Accord”. When the stakes are high and people are afraid they have something to loose communication becomes strained and people stop listening to one another. Usually this is while claiming that the people on the other side of the table are actually the ones who are not doing the listening. We get so concerned and fearful about getting other people to hear what we have to say, we become unwilling to hear what they have to say.

Indeed, listening seems sometimes as if it is a rare happening among human beings. We can’t really listen to another person speaking if we’re preoccupied, or if we’re trying to decide what we’re going to say when the other stops talking, or if we’re debating about whether what is being spoken is true or relevant or agreeable. Listening, in other words, is being accessible and open to what is being said.

At Landmark Education we contend that listening has an amazing power. It gives life to what is being spoken. You might even say it is with the listener that both the speaker and what is spoken exist and come alive. Think of how inspired and enlivened the elderly can become when you sit down and have an extended conversation with them. Think about what happens when someone is really listening to you. Ever notice that you become funnier and more playful when someone laughs at your jokes? What about when a child recognizes that adults are actually listening to them? Their whole demeanor shifts. In the programs of Landmark Education, you find yourself with a new ability to listen to others. You find yourself inspired by the people you have in your life. When you truly listen to people you discover the best of what they have to offer.

Speaking, meanwhile, can be something more than talking, more than the exchange of symbols or information, more than saying what you really think. In speaking we can share ourselves; we can evoke experience in others. Speaking is where our ideas become clear and possible. It is where others are expanded by our time spent with them. It allows for the futures we create. Speaking lives in poetry, in the appreciation of another, in idle conversations that pass the time, in great theories and books that give rise to wonder and thought.

.

Speaking allows for “who” and “how” we “are” in the world. It is what gives voice to all that is possible in being human. In our ability to speak and share we have the ability to shape the world we live in.

In the courses of Landmark Education you find that true communication is creation. It has the power to shape, determine, and alter the course and quality of our lives. It moves people. It generates experience in others. It not only delivers information to others, it actually transforms their ability to hear. True communication transforms both the speaker and listener.

The Landmark Forum suggests that what it is to be human has its own domain and that domain is one of language—of communication, of conversation. Through communication —the realm of language, of conversation—each of us has complete access to ourselves, to others, to the very essence and possibility of what it means to be human.

This is the essence of what Landmark Education is about and what The Landmark Forum provides.

In this OLD TV SHOW “At Issue” (from The National Endowment For Liberty), Ron Paul is joined by a panel of experts to discuss the power of the jury and to expose the Judge’s dirty little secret. “Jury Nullification” is the power of the Jury to overturn bad laws (of which, we have MANY). It is an important tool guaranteed to citizens serving on jury duty. Jury nullification enables us to declare laws unjust, if we are so inclined. Most Judges do not want you to know about this power. Juries are only told they can rule “guilty” or “not guilty.” They are never told of their third option, “the law is bad.” Shame on bad Judges covering up this power and the corrupt system which allow these arrogant Judges to remain on the bench. Learn your rights and DO NOT try to get out of jury duty. As citizens we only have two real powers to keep the Gov’t in check: 1) The power to vote 2) The power of the jury Your rights: Use them or loose them.
For centuries, the Hindus have practiced yoga and meditation, which is how they got their famous wisdom. Success is not about powers of education or skill; it’s all about mastering control of yourself and your mind; positive thinking! You need to guide yourself into facing life and facing problems that arise with your own vision. Inner strength and peace, a combination if achieved will be your key to winning every life challenge.

See, this is the trick, to see every problem as a challenge. You have to decide inside yourself that you will walk over every stone to get to a better place. This is the golden rule of positive thinking. Simply move forward, using every force in your life.
You need to look at your previous life and remind yourself of your achievements. Highlight all your turning points where you had to make leading decisions. Even though you might have taken those decisions subconsciously, but they provide you with an inspiration and proof of how your subconscious mind can lead you into success. It’s a sign of having natural positive thinking in your mind that will get you out of a crisis.

You need to be focused on what your goal is. Albert Einstein quoted, “The only reason for time is so that everything doesn’t happen at once” So set up an action plan to help you with your goal setting. Positive thinking about what you really want now and what you wished for before will help. As you organize your day to day events, be prepared to keep tripping over. That is when you should smile and even laugh at yourself. A simple application of the law of attraction, where the world gives you back what you send out, not making out if desired or not. Positive thinking of the notch you just fell into will turn it to a life experience giving you more knowledge and wisdom to never fall into it again.

In such cases, positive thinking will only be induced if you are surrounded by positive people. Someone who has just come out of a divorce should not hang out with recently divorced people. They lack self confidence and would only draw away from you more of it. Therefore associate with optimistic people who will grant you a chance to relax and enjoy. Positive thinking is contagious so keep close to such thinkers!

To add to your happiness you need to think of the lucky moments in your life; another way of positive thinking and applying the law of attraction. The more you think of the lucky things that happened in your life, the luckier you get. You’d be most fortunate if you’re thankful to all the blessing you have in your life. You need to throw away your worries and have faith that those lucky moments will keep happening. Feel the happiness in your future, and smell the scent of it. Don’t be surprised when you run into it around the corner. Positive thinking is like having a genie that makes your wishes come true.

So how do you get yourself out of your current bad mood to start your positive thinking wheel running? Just knowing that you are in a bad mood is the key. Walking out of this dark area needs a strong decision, and a friend to walk you out. Wanting to be alone is more negative than positive thinking. If it’s hard to find a friend, then you have to get it out on paper. Tell an imaginary friend about the reason you’re depressed. At the end, you have to highlight the source that’s been giving you negativity. What next? Eliminate that source at once. So if something worries you, get it over with, and if it’s something you cannot change, learn to accept it.

If you know what makes you happy most, I’d say you cling to it tight. This applies to work, home, relationships and your everyday life. A positive thinking about your career, might make you flip it over at several points of your life, when your needs naturally change. I personally switched between medicine, marketing and writing, one after the other. Even though my goal setting didn’t include changing careers, but I was content with what I did every time.

It’s not just a long term thing, but also on day to day terms. Use your positive thinking in everything you do, and choose to do what you love. Take a break and play that computer game you can’t resist. Invite some friends over for a long forgotten gossip. Get liberated from feelings of liability. In the end, your subconscious mind should keep repeating, “I am whatever it takes, I will succeed!” This in turn invokes the law of attraction and moves you towards attaining your goals.

With rumors of the American Bar Association working to eliminate juries in the future. And with the PROVEN vulnerability of the electronic voting machines, what voice will we have left? Welcome to Slavery, population: YOU!
Help answer the question about Powers Of Education
According to the Constitution who has specific powers regarding public education?
Now, please read this and other items regarding the question before blurting out some tripe.
my position and point is, we have a runaway Congress with a lust for power, the 10th Amendment has all but been ignored since FDR and so much of what the Fed does today and what you expect are really the responsibility of the States and the People, not the Fed.

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.

Public education is not granted to the US nor prohibited to the states and as such, the Fed should stay out of it.

In China, one child is the rule. Preferably a male child, thank you very much. When that child arrives he is the crown jewel of the Chinese family, potentially a ticket out of poverty and security for the parents in old age. Therefore, an often dirt poor family will scrape and slave for years to make sure that child has a good education and a chance to get ahead in Chinese society.

Meticulous records of a student’s grades are kept on paper. Students who do well and excel in their classes are rightly proud of their achievements. As well, Chinese society recognizes those good efforts and rewards star students with jobs in government, sciences, industry and related fields. The record of ones’ grades are the ticket to a better life. That is unless that precious piece of paper disappears from the vaults of the Chinese educational bureaucracy.

And that’s precisely what is happening now. Student records for the very best and brightest seem to be magically disappearing from files and storage areas at an alarming clip. The presumption is that prized student records are being resold on the black market for big bucks. The loss of these records is a devastating blow to families who have invested everything they have in their children. And given the fact that education is so highly prized in China it amazes me that the government is apparently willing to turn a blind eye to this sort of thing.

When I look around at how cavalier many of our students are about school I wonder if any of them would trade places with their Chinese counterparts?

Based in Kenya, the William Holden Wildlife Foundation is dedicated to the preservation of wild animals, and its education center teaches some 10000 plus students a year about wildlife preservation, environmental studies and resource conservation. This video gathers photos, video, and audio clips from public presentations by WHWF’s President, Stefanie Powers, to give a quick look at the history and work of the foundation.
I'm still trying to figure out why a federal Department of Education exists in the first place, as nothing could possibly be more a state power than education. But even if I grit my teeth and grudgingly accept that the federal behemoth expands because it exists, I have to ask why Obama would get involved in something like the length of a school year. Even the feds have never tried to stick their noses THAT far into local and state control before.
mr. wolf: I have absolutely no problem with education. My gripe is that it has always been, should now be, and should always remain a STATE power, not a federal one.
puppet: No, the feds do NOT have that right. Where exactly in the Constitution do you find such a thing?
sadcat: Why do you Dems think that no Republican ever disagreed with anything President Bush did? While I supported him on the majority of issues, I howled over NCLB. Federalism is the basis of our entire system, and should be respected by any leader, regardless of party.
caribou: Do you understand the English language? It is a State power, as you just admitted. While I don't think it's a good idea, an individual state could spend $1.98 per kid and nobody should have squat to say about it other than the voters inside that state.
rounder: It is not the federal government's business if one state has a better education system than another. Education is a state power, period. As I said, if Mississippi (for example) wanted to completely abolish public education, the OPNLY people who9 dhould have one iota to say on the subject should be residents of the state of Mississippi.
caribou: Please note you are not blocked from answering my questions. I guess that means only one of us is an abject coward.
captain: Reported for not answering the question and adult content.
rounder: By all means, show me a constitutional mandate regarding what a state must do regarding education. It is not there. States are free to do whatever they wish. The feds use money as a club with which to beat states into submission. If a state dares to go against a federal directive, federal education money is witheld. That is the only recourse the feds have. They have NO binding law on their side whatsoever.
rounder: I notice you conveniently forget about the Tenth Amendment. Why must thgose on the left constantly resort to ad hominems regarding people with whom they disagree? I absolutely, positively guarantee you my education is superior to yours.
rounder: Actually, our educational backgrounds are remarkably similar. I have a BBA from Aquinas College in Gd. Rapids, MI, with a concentration in labor relations and a double minor in French and history, and an MBA from the U of M.

To answer your question, I am dead set against the federal government having anything whatsoever to do with education. If I suddenly awoke omnipotent, the very word "education" would be stricken from all dictionaries in use by federal officials.
